I remembered to write this dream down the next day so here you go:

The Day I Met Death

I had a really strange dream last night. I was in Limbo hanging out with Death.
Limbo itself consisted of miles of shrubbery, almost like a labyrinth. There was an amazing Mansion/hotel in the background that I guessed was for the disheartened mortals wandering around not knowing what to do with themselves. One last hurrah? A brothel, some gambling and feasts before you go? Who knows, I only went in there briefly to try and find a bathroom.
There were a lot of people. Some sad, some calm, some angry. Death and I seemed to hit it off pretty well. We drank, laughed and chatted with the other immortals as they floated around making light conversation with the wandering and confused dead. Suddenly, Death took out what looked like pages and pages of names. There was some highlighting and penciled notes on the margins (it looked exactly like the low enrolled course list that I have to go through everyday at work. God I hate that thing.. ) However, I knew exactly what it was the moment I saw it.
"So Death," I asked playfully, "After you randomly meet people or hang out with anyone, do you run home and flip through that thing to see when they're going to die? Out of curiosity of course."
"ALL the time!" Death laughed.
I shouldn't have continued, but I was feeling the party vibe and the wine I was holding had already gone to my head. Even if it was a dream the intoxication felt real.
"So, when am I gonna die?" I said, holding back giggles.
"haha well, let's see shall we?" Death began to thumb through the pages. I could tell he was also about as drunk as I was. "Ah Hah!" He exclaimed, pointing down at the blurry list of names. "Two days from now, my lovely!" He exclaimed with wicked glee.
I half thought he was kidding. He seemed like the type who would.
"Are you scared to die?" He asked, still laughing as he shuffled the papers back in order.
"No" I answered. "There is no need for humans to fear death." At this point, it didn't feel like it was me talking. More like, I was somebody else. Kind of hard to explain, but it seems to happen a lot in dreams. Mine anyway.
I continued with a long explanation of why death was something mortals shouldn't fear. Which, of course, I can't remember now.
Death just looked at me and chuckled, like a father would to a 2 yr old trying to advocate world peace.
I guess I'm just naive like that. And that's when I woke up.
